This past weekend I hosted a Sip & Swap with the ladies of O So Chic. If you were one of the ladies in attendance, then you know we had a great time and if you couldn't join us, check out the recap.

We sipped on cocktails provided by Ciroc and swapped our gently used {but fab} clothes and accessories. Besides Ciroc, our other sponsors included Golden Krust Bakery, Handbag Heaven, Havaianas, Happy Scarf and Housing Works. After swapping clothes for two hours, we still had a ton of clothes left over, but they all found a good home, as they were donated to Housing Works, which isn't just a chain of thrift stores but an organization that supports those in NYC who are homeless and/or living with HIV/AIDS.

Whether the ladies were a size 2 or 12, they all walked out with at least one bag of clothes and accessories.

Looking Fly on a Dime, Black Blogger Month shoot

Last Friday, I had an amazing opportunity to participate in a video shoot for BlackEnterprise.com. This is the second year they've designated May as Black Blogger Month {check out last year's coverage} and I was honored they wanted me to be a part of it, as well as shoot some footage for the video series. Every weekday a new blogger will be highlighted and they'll share how they made it. I'm not sure what day I'll be live on the Black Enterprise site, but of course I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out what I wore. You already know I had to rock some thrifty, affordable threads. *Sorry for the crappy lighting, we filmed at the 40/40 club and they had the lights down when we weren't filming*

Over the past two years, some of you have asked me about opening an online shop. While I'm out thrifting I tend to post photos on Twitter or Facebook of great thrift store finds. But if they don't fit me or they're not my style, I end up leaving them at the store. Well, now that's about to change.

I just opened the Looking Fly on a Dime Shop. You can snag some designer and statement thrifted and vintage pieces at a fraction of what they'd originally cost. Right now I have a half dozen pieces for sale, including: Dolce Vita dress

Sip & Swap Event

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, then you have the dish on the Sip & Swap I'm hosting with O So Chic on Saturday, 4/28. Well, if not, then I'm excited to announce the second annual Sip & Swap. Last year the ladies of O So Chic hosted this event and this year we decided to collaborate. Don't know what a Sip & Swap is? It's exactly what it sounds like. It'll be an afternoon of sipping on cocktails {courtesy of Ciroc} and swapping clothes. Great, right? Bring your clean, gently worn clothes, shoes and accessories and you can swap them with other fashionable ladies. Any clothes that haven't been swapped after the event, are being donated to the thrift store, Housing Works.

Fashion trends come and go but one thing is constant: no matter what the trend, you can find it at a thrift store. Some people still think of thrift stores as having crappy leftovers other people no longer see fit to wear. Sometimes that's true but other times, you find awesome, current threads. And because fashion is so cyclical, what was hot years ago is once again in style. While thrifting last week, I came across a few trends that I've seen on the runway. Instead of dropping major cash on an "it" item of the moment, you can save a ton by thrifting the trends.

Florals were seen in collections by Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung, and countless others and I found a ton of them at the Salvation Army, from blazers to dresses to skirts. It was an absolute explosion of flower power. I scoped out a Diane von Furstenberg blouse for $7...
