If you guys follow me on Instagram {user: LookingFlyonaDime} or like my Facebook fan page, then you may have seen some photos from earlier this month referencing my shoot with WE tv. Well, now I can give you the dish! I filmed two Cinematherapy segments for the network.
During the commercial breaks for Braxton Family Values, host Jackie Tranchida and I give you the dish on must have items for fall. The advertiser for this week's Cinematherapy is Burlington Coat Factory, so everything is super affordable. And like I mentioned, I didn't film just one segment, but two. During the 7pm show of the Braxtons, I'll show you a great piece from Burlington that can transition your wardrobe from summer to fall. And during the 8pm show's commercial break, you'll see another must have piece for the fall months.I know most people, self included, tune out or fast forward when commercials come on, but you'll want to stay tuned in between the Braxton episodes.I took a few picks during the shoot just to give you a peek at what you can see on Thursday's Cinematherapy episodes.Do you guys know what today, August 17 is? Well, if you read the title of this post, then you know it's National Thrift Shop Day.
And though many people think thrift shopping is a hard skill that only certain people can acquire, that's so not true. Yes, it takes patience but anyone can master it. If you're new to thrift shopping, you can always check out my Thrift Shopping 101, How to Find the Best Thrift Store or Ten Thrift Shopping Commandments {part one and part two}.I know thrift shopping has become a fad for some people, but I've been doing this for about 10 years. I didn't start thrifting because it was cool, I did it because I was a broke college student living off of her work study pay check. Now I thrift because it's economical, I love the thrill of finding a cheap, unique treasure and in many cases, the money I spend on secondhand clothing benefits a charitable cause. In honor of National Thrift Shop Day, I wanted to share some of my thrift store scores with you on this glorious "holiday."I have a problem. A serious problem. For as long as I can remember, I've rarely, if ever, been able to wear white without getting a stain on it. I always manage to spill a drink, get an ink stain or rub up against something. Due to this, I stay away from wearing white.
But I decided to stop letting that fear keep me from rocking the fresh, crisp hue. While thrift shopping in San Francisco, I found a vintage Adidas tennis skirt I desperately wanted. It fit me perfectly, but it was white. But it was also crazy cheap {the threads at Clothes Contact are $10 per pound}. I bought it and I'm so glad I did.I finally wore the mini with some bright additions while in New Orleans earlier this summer.Earlier this week I showed you my recent Housing Works haul from the Buy the Bag sale. But I found so many goodies {63 pieces for $50 equals less than 80 cents for each item}, I had to split the post up over two days. I gave you a glimpse at the awesome coats and tops I nabbed {including a St. John cardigan} and now it's time for the bottoms.
My style definitely leans more towards dresses, flirty skirts and even casual skinny jeans, and I found all of the aforementioned.Peep what I walked away with.
