patrice j. williams, home savvy show
I just wrapped up hosting the third season of Madame Noire's Home Savvy show and the final episode is all about decorating for the holidays. This is undoubtedly the time of year you're bound to have tons of guests and it's easy to get overwhelmed with prepping your space. But it doesn't have to be that way. You don't have to invest a ton of money or time to upgrade your home.
If you love to entertain, here's how to prep for the holidays!

housing works, fashion for action
Last night I attended an event I look forward to every year: Housing Works Fashion for Action. I'm a huge supporter of Housing Works and their chain of thrift stores in NYC {remember my Balenciaga booties I scored from Buy the Bag?!}. Well, I don't just love Housing Works for their fly, affordable fashion. Their mission is to help the homeless and those living with HIV/AIDS. As someone who lost her father to AIDS {you can read my store here}, I'm always advocating for any services that benefit the community.
Last night was the 10th annual Fashion for Action benefit. It's the perfect combination of fashion and philanthropy as 250 fashion brands were on hand offering their goods at up to 70 percent off. And the proceeds benefited charity.
If you missed the opening night, here's what went down. Plus, how you can still get your hands on some of the amazing pieces. And of course I have to show you what pieces I scored and what I wore.

looking fly on a dime, style guide

Remember when I Instagrammed this dress last year? It was Free People {a brand I love} and majorly discounted at TJ Maxx. I knew I'd get tons of wear out of the fitted, printed dress. A dress like this can easily be saucy with a high heel or a bit more casual. Now that the temps are dipping again, I'm back to rocking the Free People dress. And this time around, I decided to keep the frock pretty casual thanks to a few add-ons like accessories and a cable knit top.

tj maxx website

The fashion gods have answered our prayers: TJ Maxx has finally launched an e-commerce site. The affordable chain was once only for those lucky enough to have a store in their area, but now, every budget lover can get her hands on affordable fashion and discounted designer finds.Check out a few of my favorite fall pieces below and why shopping online might be a better experience than visiting the actual store.
