Leather in the summer time? The two just didn't seem to mix. However, I've been obsessed with leather shorts ever since my homie Danielle {aka The Style & Beauty Doctor} rocked a pair at a concert we went to last year. I've been on the look out for them at my fave thrift stores but never lucked up.

This week Loehmann's invited me to an event and gave all bloggers in attendance a gift card. My Thrifty Threads 365 challenge only lets me wear new, non-thrifted clothing if it's a gift. So I was excited when the first item I stumbled upon was a pair of leather shorts. Housing Works is back at it again. You know I love their Buy the Bag sale {you can purchase an entire bag of clothing for just $25} but now the thrift store chain returns with their "Best of" sales. Formerly known as Previews, it's the annual event where clothing, furniture and artwork is just a fraction of the original cost. The already affordable pieces are marked down even more! Starting on August 30, each location will have a specific sale day.

Below are a few of my favorite Housing Works locations along with sale dates.SoHo {130 Crosby St.} This location isn't that big on square footage but it's packed full of high end shoes and dresses. Sale date: August 30, 5pm-8pm

I love the joy of thrifting. It's not just the idea of adding a new piece to my closet but I actually like digging through bins and racks to discover a cheap, unique treasure. However, I understand not everyone shares that feeling. Some people just don't have the patience or time for it. Luckily, a few thrift and vintage stores let you shop online. Yup, you can score secondhand clothing and accessories from the comfort of your living room.

I briefly mentioned online thrift shopping as an option if you don't have any great stores in your area, but I decided to expand on it. This weekend I made a trip to Housing Works {157 East 23rd St} and after less than five minutes in the store, my heart stopped. I'm working on a project and was shopping for other people but I inevitably found something for myself.

Leafing through an entire rack of clothing, especially if it's tightly packed, can be time consuming, but I always tell people to maintain a sharp eye for colors and patterns they love.Since I'm a sucker for anything shimmery, this black and gold blazer clearly stood out.
