06 Jan Beauty Review: Milani Neon Nail Lacquer
I’ve never tried Milani products before but I’m familiar with the drugstore cosmetics line. The Milani Neon collection immediately caught my eye. It’s designed to “give your nails a POP of brilliance.” The colors were bold and girly, just my style. With shades like Awesome Orange, Pink Hottie and Totally 80s, it was tough for me to decide on one color but I ended up going with Fresh Teal.
However, I was a bit shocked when I saw the $6 price tag. 6 bucks isn’t a lot, but definitely more than the $1 for Wet n Wild polish or $2 for Sinful Colors. And for two more bucks I could have just bough Essie. Eh, whatever. I picked up a bottle anyway.
I was pretty impressed. After just one coat, the color was bright and intense. By the second coat, the pigment was even more intense and had a natural shine to it even without a top coat.
I decided to pick up another Milani product, the Nail Art with Precision Brush. This polish alone normally sells for $5, but it came in a limited edition package with 30 nail rhinestones and decals for the same price. I figured I’d try it out and get a little fancy with my nails.
The White Canvas polish had a thin brush, perfect for adding fun designs and shapes. I’m super clumsy but wanted to give the brush a whirl and try to make some white polka dots on top of my teal polish. Well…it didn’t go so well. The dots were misshaped and I either had too much or too little polish on the brush. I don’t fault the polish {the tiny brush is great for precision} but I just need more practice.
Since the dots didn’t go so well, I added a few of the rhinestones. I’m not a huge fan of rhinestones but they’re a cute addition to basic polish. A few tips though: you may need to use tweezers to properly place them on your nails and be sure to use a top coat, otherwise the adornments will fall off, as the adhesive isn’t too strong.

Posted at 15:26h, 20 JanuaryI have the exact color you used! I love it…I put on a topcoat and I was able to keep it from chipping for probably a week or so. I am going to have to buy more colors! Have you reviewed Sally Hansen’s X-treme wear polish….good stuff! My color recommendations are Wet Cement and Grey Matter.
