17 Dec Thrifty Threads: Keeping It Festive in All Black
This is a sponsored post with L’Eggs. All opinions are my own
Wearing head to toe black can come off as a bit harsh, but it can also be pretty festive. That is with the right details!
For this week’s Thrifty Threads I ditched my usual bright hues for all black everything. The head to toe thrifted look is far from harsh and perfectly cheery for a holiday look or New Year’s Eve. And I got a bit of help from L’Eggs with their Energy tights.
The key to this monochromatic look is details and tons of texture. Like I mentioned, everything is thrifted {minus the tights and the heels were a gift from my cousin!}. The Old Navy leather jacket and clutch are touches of edginess. My a-line dress is a heavier, neoprene-ish material. But the real show stopper is the vintage sequin shirt.
The last time I wore this was in Atlanta for a business trip. This time it’s the centerpiece of my look. Between the scalloped hem and the flecks of gold sequins, you’ve got the perfect combination of texture and details.
And because it’s not quite warm enough for a bare leg here on the Easy coast, tights are a must. For such a fun look, I didn’t want legwear that was too heavy. That’s where the L’Eggs Energy Tights came in. They’re thick but still have a bit of sheer to them. Basically, they make your legs look great. And they even have built in compression. I automatically think uncomfortable or restrictive when I hear “compression,” but they’re really comfortable.
So you see, all black can be far from harsh or goth. It’s all about the details that make your look pop! I just might recycle this ensemble for New Year’s Eve {don’t judge me!}.
What’s your go-to color or style for a holiday look?
