16 Nov 5 Minutes to Fab: Quick Style Tweaks that Make a Huge Difference
It’s Monday, so maybe you were rushing to get dressed and pulled an outfit together at the last minute. Though I love using Style Equations that make getting dressed in the A.M. easy, there are also last minute fixes that can really make you look polished and no one will ever know you were pressed for time.
Check out these Five Minutes to Fab tips that keep you looking polished.
Layer
So you have on your top and bottom or a dress, and you think you’re done, right? Wrong! Think of your outfit as the cake and layering is the frosting. Sure, you can just eat cake, but frosting makes it so much better. A little bit of layering always ups the style factor. Layering adds warmth, which we can all use right now, but it also gives dimension to an otherwise flat outfit. Throw on a faux fur vest with your denim or layer a chambray top under your chunky sweater. I know layering can look really difficult, but I promise, it’s not.
Fill In Brows
I admit I’m not a huge makeup person. Sometimes I just don’t have the time to be bothered with it. But you know what makes a huge difference? Filling in your brows! Eyebrows frame your face, so even if you don’t have on foundation, a polished brow will work wonders. I love NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder and I recently started using {and became obsessed with!} Toppik’s Brow Building Fiber Set. They make it easy to fill in, shape and define sparse brows. Quick tip: a brow expert at the Toppik event I attended told me most people go too dark when filling in their brows, so it’s always best to opt for a powder that’s one shade lighter than your natural hair.
Do Your Nails
I know you’re thinking a manicure will take way too long, and you’re right. But try nail stickers. These bad boys take just minutes to apply and come in a ton of different colors and patterns. I apply these so much that I can do a full set in a little over five minutes, but if you don’t have time for that, just add a few nail decals as accents. Sally Hansen has a large variety and I just started wearing Gel Dress by Kiss. I’ve had them on for a little over a week and I’ve only had two nail stickers come off over the past day or two. I’m too fidgety to sit down for a manicure, so I will be buying more of these Kiss nail stickers. I’ll post an updated pic of what my nail stickers look like on Instagram, so be sure to follow me there.
Hair Accessories
Having natural hair, there are some days I literally just look at my hair and think, “what am I going to do with you?” But I think women of all textures feel that way! But that’s what bobby pins and more importantly, headbands, were made for. Even if you’re rocking a messy bun or braid, a headband {I like wearing two at a time!}, makes the look more intentional. Because who says your hair has to be perfectly polished and laid to look great? But a little hair decoration makes the “messiness” look less messy.

Rock a Dope Jacket or Coat
The weather’s getting colder and this is the time to really have fun with outerwear. Go for a bold color, print or funky design. Even if you’re wearing a pretty simple outfit, grab your best jacket before leaving the house and you’ll be looking like a million bucks. That red coat below? I scored it from the Salvation Army Coat Sale for $23. It’s Oscar de le Renta! Again, outerwear can make a huge difference in your overall look. I’ll keep you guys posted on the next coat sale in NYC, but also be on the lookout for thrift sales in your own town. Ask the sales associates if they have any upcoming sales or events, because this is where you can really save a ton and find unique outerwear.
Even if you can’t do all of the tips above each morning {that would take more than five minutes!}, just try one or two and you’ll instantly see a difference in your style game.
Do you have any last minute fixes that make a huge difference to your outfit? What quick style tweaks keep you looking fly?

Posted at 16:38h, 30 DecemberI add a pretty print scarf to monochrome outfits. Especially in my cold office. The scarf brightens the outfit and keeps my neck from freezing! Under a blazer, you can style the scarf to mimic a blouse use under the color of a plain blouse.
