20 May 5 Items to Help You Jet Set in Style
Vacation season is upon us and whether you’re headed for a weekend getaway or a Caribbean cruise, staying comfy and chic is a challenge when deciding what to wear while traveling. Luckily, you don’t have to sacrifice your style just because you’re on the go.
From comfortable maxis to the perfect layering pieces and easy accessories, here are the clothes you need to jet set in style. It’s time to ditch the sweats and flip flops!
Lately I’ve been obsessed with jumpsuits {check out my last Thrifty Threads post} and though they can have a glam look, they’re an effortless one piece to go from travel to a night out. Something like this Jennifer Lopez for Kohl’s jumpsuit is a great option. It has an elastic waistband and no buttons, so it’s easy to get in and out of and looks equally gorgeous with flats {as you’re traveling} or strappy sandals {once you reach your destination}.
For jet-setting shoes, keep in mind you’ll want something breathable yet cute enough to leave on after landing. LuLu’s offers an array of options like the crocheted flats. Added bonus: they’re easy to slip in and out of during security checkpoints.
When dressing for travel, layering is key. Old Navy v-neck tees are made of super-soft cotton and come in neutral tones, so you can mix and match with any other tops. Since the t-shirt is so light and fits close to the body, you can easily layer anything over {cardigan or jean jacket} or under {tank top or camisole} it.
Speaking of layering, you can’t go without a long sleeve, fine knit cardigan, like this one from H&M. Wear it in an air conditioned car or chilly plane or just stash it in your bag. You can even roll it up and use as a pillow if you want to catch some sleep. Unlike a heavy sweater, this one is bulk free and soft.
Just because you’re on-the-go doesn’t mean you can’t accessorize. A large tote from Dorothy Perkins is perfect for stowing away your removable layers or other essentials while in transit. Also, the bold color makes it a great statement piece to rock once you reach your destination.
What’s your go-to travel outfit that combines fashion and function? Are there certain fabrics or garments you avoid?
