What to Wear When You’re Broke – 3 Pieces that Make You Look Expensive {instantly!}

I’ve pretty much been broke my entire life. And you know what? I have no shame in saying that! But over the past decade I’ve learned how to not always look broke. Aha, that’s the key!

I realized it wasn’t about how much money I did or didn’t spend, it was always about the choices I made when I did drop some cash on clothes. I’m back to making videos and this one’s all about what I wore when I was broke!

But first, let’s be clear, these aren’t the clothes you *only* wear when funds are low. This is about what to buy when your shopping budget is limited and you want to look your absolute best. While it can be easy to feel depressed when everyone else is shopping and you only have $40 or 50 bucks {at most!}, it totally doesn’t have to be that way.

I remember when I graduated from college and was working at a fashion magazine. Wanna know what my salary was?! $28,000 a year. Sigh. With overtime I think I made around 34 or 35k. Needless to say, I learned a few tricks from the editors I worked with, the people who were easily making quadruple my salary. Though I knew I couldn’t afford their specific clothes and labels, I took cues as to what they wore {cuts, colors, garments, etc.}. The what is always more important than the who {i.e. designer}.
