Thrifty Threads: Casual Chic Weekend Style

My style has always been what you might consider to be “casual chic.” I love basics like jeans, tank/tee with a nice pop thanks to a printed jacket, statement jewels or killer heels.

So when it comes to pulling a weekend look together that’s fashionable and functional, I stick with a basic formula I know will work well. This week I rocked a few thrifted garments with affordable, comfortable pieces from Hanes.

Jeans are my go-to and I recently distressed these thrifted pair of skinnies. But the real stars of the show are the Hanes Live.Love.Color scoop neck t-shirt {less than $10!} in this bright blue and a shaggy leopard jacket, which I found at a thrift shop years ago and finally started wearing.

The key to making any “basic” look not so basic is a dash of color and a bold print, especially one like leopard which is a neutral and goes with everything in your closet.

Also, and maybe this is TMI, but when it comes to skinny jeans or any low-rise pant, your choice of undergarments is a pretty big deal. Because exposed booty crack is not cute {unless that’s what you’re going for!}. So underneath I wore the Hanes vintage cotton stretch hipster panties. Besides the breathable cotton {extremely important on a hot day!}, the waistband comfortably hugged my waist. And I even wore the ComfortFlex Fit Get Cozy Seamless bra during my recent mud run {see the pics here}.

So even if you only have a few minutes to get dressed, throwing on a chic, functional look is pretty effortless.
