Welcome to Looking Fly on a Dime

Hey fellow budget and thrift lovers,
Some of you are regular readers and many of you just discovered me due to my Nate Berkus Show appearance yesterday. I’ll be resuming regular posts on Monday, but I just wanted to give you an official introduction to the blog.

I mostly post about thrift shopping and thrifting tips but I also cover other budget fashion news. Last year I started a Thrifty Threads 365 challenge {a full year where I didn’t purchase any new clothing, I just thrifted} and I completed the mission! Well, I’m starting my Thrifty Threads challenge again on October 1, but this time with a twist. Stay tuned for more info! On Fridays I typically do a Thrifty Threads post where I show you guys how I put together my thrift stores finds.

I also have a YouTube channel where I upload fun videos of my thrift store hauls and I plan to start doing more DIY projects, like the how to cut an oversized t-shirt vid which has been viewed more than 4,000 times!.

And shortly I’ll be offering services for those looking for a style consultation or a one-on-one thrift shopping experience. I’ll also start offering Adventures in Thrifting again, a fun day of getting together with a group of NYC-based readers for thrift shopping endeavors.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions, requests or suggestions via the Contact page above and you can always hit me up on Twitter, Facebook or subscribe to the monthly newsletter.

If you missed me on the Nate Berkus show, check out a clip here.

xoxo,
Patrice

Go girl…great job! You’re a natural on camera! Also…awhile back I thought you mentioned something about ideas for this blog. Have you considered letting readers submit their own finds from thrift shopping along with how much they paid?

I came searching for your blog after seeing your segment of thift store fashions on The Nate Berkus Show. I am also a thrift store Diva, although my finds are for the home instead of fashion. I have filled my home with these “treasures.” In fact I decorated my entire living room including the furniture for under $200. Doesn’t it feel great to give discarded and unwanted items a new life?

Watching the fabulous  thift store fashion show on Nate and reading your articles has really inspired me. I am anxious to see if I can be as ceative in fashioning a “new” fall wardrobe as I have been in decorating my centsibly chic home.

Good luck in your new endeavors.

Thanks so much. I love decorating and I’m going to start decorating my space with thrift stores finds. Just as much as i love thrift shopping for clothes, I love finding a secondhand desk or dresser. They’re so much more unique (and affordable) than the stuff you get at a generic store.

I’m sure as talented as you are at putting together those fabulous outfits you will have no problem creating a beautiful space. With just a little paint and imagination you can transform beat up and out-dated funiture into one of a kind treasures. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with. .

Just saw you on the Today Show this morning and I was happy to find this site, for I am always looking to save money on clothing and accessories. Hopefully, you’ve got savings for a full figured diva, like me :). Everyone wants to look fly, no matter their size.
