Wardrobe Essentials for Fall

Though we have a few more weeks to summer, fall is rapidly approaching. That doesn’t just mean a change in temps but it’s time to put away the sandals and shorts and get into a lightweight jacket or wide leg pants. Though some pieces can transition to fall (adding tights under your mini or a cardigan over your favorite tank), autumn brings us new fashion finds.

Below are 5 wardrobe essentials for fall, and they’re all less than $100.

Trench coat:
A trench should be a staple in every woman’s closet. You’ll wear it for years and the classic cut is flattering for all figures. You’re sure to see most trenches in beige or camel, but some brighter hues are also on the market for the lady who wants a pop of color.

Wide leg pants:
I’m a devoted skinny jean wearer, but there’s something so classy about a wide leg pant. It’s great dressed up with a fitted top or blazer. To keep the pants from overwhelming your shape, pair with a slim-fitting blouse and a heel high enough so the hem grazes the floor.

Little White Dress:
The days of the LBD are over (well, no not really) and it’s time the LWD stepped up to the plate. That sartorial tale of not wearing white after Labor Day is so outdated. A crisp white frock is sure to stand out on a dreary autumn day. To make the look seasonally appropriate, go for a heavier fabric.

Leather Jacket:
For those days when it’s too warm for a heavy coat but too cold for just a cardigan, a leather jacket is your go-to option. Keep from looking like a biker chick (unless that’s what you want) by pairing the jacket with softer pieces, like a feminine dress or skinny jeans.

Bright Patent Pumps:
We all have, or should have, a black patent pump in our arsenal of footwear. It’s chic and goes with everything. But why limit yourself to basic black? Bold blues and pretty pinks add flair to a neutral outfit.
