Thrifty Threads: Transition Your LBD with Thrift Store Finds

Remember my beloved Catherine Malandrino for Kohl’s pleated dress from earlier this fall? Well, I loved it two months ago and I’m still loving it now. Just because the weather has dipped {it’s less than 40 degrees in NYC!!!}, that doesn’t mean I put the frock away. The great thing about it is the knit material, which makes it perfect for the frigid temps.
When I previously wore the dress, I went with a bare leg and floral pumps, this time around I threw on a pair of thick tights {just a few dollars from H&M} and some thrift store finds for a cozy and chic style.
The pleated dress has three quarter length sleeves, so I simply layered the Catherine Malandrino for Kohl’s Paris sweater over it. The pleats from the dress still peek out and the shirt + dress combo actually makes it look like a single piece. Black and white is such a clean color combo, so I added over the knee boots I bought from TJ Maxx last year. Not only do they add a dash of color, but the high boot means only a sliver of my legs are exposed, so I’m warm and cozy.
Of course I couldn’t resist adding my Old Navy leather coat {thrifted from the Goodwill Outlet and last worn here}, a faux fur collar from Housing Works Buy the Bag and my go-to leopard purse from Closet Dash {this place is a must if you have clothes and accessories you want to swap!}.
Though the look is light on color, I went all out with mixing textures {rugged leather, soft faux fur, heavy knit dress, buttery suede}. And my chandelier earrings from the Salvation Army were the only accessories I needed.
If you have that dress you rocked {and loved!} throughout fall, don’t be so quick to store it away. The right layers can make it wearable for a few more months to come.

I found a fur stole at a vintage shop in DC and I put it over my leather trench. So chic and simple. And warm!!!
