Thrifty Threads: The $6 Old Navy Skirt that Wowed Me

Sometimes you find a garment that just blows you away. Maybe it’s the actual garment and sometimes it’s your disbelief that a certain store carries such a cute piece.

That’s what happened when I went thrift shopping two weeks ago. I found this cobalt blue full midi skirt and fell in love. It was the color. The cut. The knee length split. And I was amazed to discover it was from Old Navy. Yes, Old Navy! I’ve never shopped at Old Navy {besides their dollar flip flops}, but I was surprised such a chic piece originated in their store.

If you follow my Snapchat adventures {PatriceJWill}, then you’ve seen this skirt and saw how amazed I was at this $6 thrift store score. It’s the perfect length for fall, but still breezy enough for those warmer days.

For today’s Thrifty Threads look, I paired it with an old t-shirt, my trusty denim jacket I thrifted more than a decade ago {last seen here} and my go-to Target hat for fall and winter and these awesome tweed and faux suede booties courtesy of ShoeDazzle. And the animal print clutch is just a cosmetics case a friend gave me.

One thing I love to do with denim jackets or blazers is add a brooch or two to the pocket. It’s a personalized feel and makes something old feel a bit new.

And as mentioned before, the side slit in the dress really sold me. It’s a mix of classy {conservative midi length} and sassy {a slit that shows a bit of leg}!

I found a ton of other goodies during my recent thrift shopping trip, so stay tuned for the haul video tomorrow.

When’s the last time you went thrifting? Do you have a fun way of dressing up older pieces in your closet?

This looks great! Old Navy definitely has some cute, chic things from time to time. Great find! And I love the idea of using a cosmetics bag as a clutch.
