Thrifty Threads: Playing Dress Up

Housing Works Buy the bag sale, thrift store warehouse There’s something so beautiful about dresses from the 40s, 50s and 60s. The silhouettes flatter a woman’s figure all while being classic and refined. So I was amazed when I came across a gorgeous dress at Housing Works Buy the Bag.

The print. Halter neck. Full skirt…but it wasn’t vintage. It was a modern Anne Klein frock. Either way, I loved it and scooped it up {psst: Housing Works Buy the Bag offers clothes for $25 per bag, so this cost less than a buck!}.

I’m not a fan of head to toe vintage {it can be too costume-y for me} and the dress was two sizes too big, but styling it was super easy.

thrifty threads 365, thrifty threads Though the weather’s finally warming up, I still needed a bit more coverage, so I layered a sheer top over it. And as mentioned, it’s a bit big, so I really cinched the waist with the belt {next time I might swap it for a different, solid belt}. With the addition of a few accessories, my look was fun, classic and vintage-inspired.
