Thrifty Threads: Mixing Neutrals and Metallics {$30 Outfit!}

I love color, that’s pretty evident by my typically bright outfits. But sometimes I like to tone it down. However, neutral doesn’t have to equal boring.

In this week’s Thrifty Threads, I’m rocking head to toe thrift. Literally, from my earrings to my shoes, everything is thrifted {well, minus my rings that were $1 each}.

I’ve rocked all of these pieces before, except the top, but more on that beauty later.

A quick breakdown: earrings from a Housing Works event for less than 10 bucks, vintage purse from Housing Works Buy the Bag {less than $1}, Michael Kors nude sandals from the Salvation Army for $7 and a hi-low skirt from Twice {check out my review of the resale site here}.

The real stunner of the outfit is the gold lamé wrap crop top. This gem was just $6 from the Salvation Army on 46th Street. Anytime I buy something that’s a bit over the top or in your face, my natural instinct is to pair it with something pretty subdued. It’s all about balance! So I naturally grabbed the Ark + Co pleated skirt {last worn here} for a simple, yet chic look.

And as for the accessories, I wanted to keep the metallic theme of the shirt going. So I opted for my vintage purse and a few oversized rings I scored at a cheapy store in NYC {follow along on Snapchat @PatriceJWill, where I shared the accessories shopping experience}. Contrary to some opinions, you can absolutely mix metals. Silver, gold and bronze really play well together, so just have fun.

From head to toe, my entire look was less than $30. Not bad!

Do you mix your metal jewelry? How do you dress up your neutral outfits?
