Thrifty Threads – Houndstooth and Cut Outs

Fall is quickly creeping up on the East coast. It’s that weird in between weather where it’s sunny and you want to expose some skin but maybe cover your arms to keep the chill away.

I spotted this dress at the Salvation Army and knew I had to have it. The houndstooth pattern is what initially attracted me {when I’m thrifting in a rush or a crowd, I grab patterns or bright colors that catch my eye}. The black and white combo is classic and I envisioned myself wearing it with a bright shoe, like my purple cut out sandals. And of course…I had to add a woven belt to cinch the waist, otherwise the dress just swallows me up.

Breakdown:
Dress: Topshop via Salvation Army, $5
Shoes: DSW, $30 or $35
Belt: Goodwill, $1

Week two of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge (a full year where I only buy second-hand clothing) is down, only 50 more weeks to go!

I really need a lesson on cinching belts at the waist. Random, I know.
