Thrifty Threads – Fur and Studs

I finally got some of my Salvation Army coat sale items back from the cleaners and the first thing I had to wear was my fur vest. I’ve been obsessed with fur vests since Rachel Zoe started rocking them. However, I wasn’t willing to drop the cash on the real deal and I never found a faux option I had to have.

But lo and behold, I found a real fur vest at the Salvation Army sale a few weeks ago. It’s super soft and has a great silk lining. I easily incorporated the luxe piece in to my typical winter wardrobe {skinny jeans and boots}.

{a vest with pockets? score!}

Click more to see detailed pics and read up on an awesome thrift shopping tip that helped me snag this fur vest.

{i’m obsessed with these Spring Shoes lace up studded boots}

{the accessories are simple: woven belt and layered necklaces}

Breakdown:
Vest: thrifted for $10
Shirt: Target, $5
Jeans: Strawberry, $10
Belt: thrifted, $1
Boots: courtesy of Spring Shoes
Necklaces: courtesy of my grandma 🙂

Thrift tip:

Whenever people put things back at a thrift store, take a minute to go through their discarded options. I found this vest on a rack of coats that people decided they didn’t want. Maybe the people who tried it on before me didn’t like the size or style. Something they thought wasn’t worth a purchase is now a great new piece in my closet.

Week 20 of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge (a full year where I only buy second-hand clothing) is down. Only 32 more weeks to go!

    You know I’m not a huge fur fan, but I must admit that this outfit is pretty fly. Get it get it! LOL

    OK…so I’m trying to do the Thrifty Threads Challenge. I went thrifting this week and picked up 3 dresses (including a silk one), 5 tops, a pair of linen pants and a gorgeous leather handbag that normally retails for $150 – $200! Total thrift shop spending $9. I kinda broke the no-new stuff rule when I bought myself a pair of shoes for $5 at a closing down sale and four bracelets for $2 from a clearance bin(one is actually not for me, and is being added to my gift closet). I decided to step outside of my fashion comfort zone a bit, and pick up some stuff that I wouldn’t ordinarily buy. The thrift buys all go well with many other things in my closet so for $9, I have added about 30 new outfit combinations! Thrifting rocks!

      Wow, you scored some amazing stuff! That’s the great thing about thrifting, you can buy some unique, out of the ordinary pieces (on the cheap) and incorporate them in to your existing wardrobe. Thrifting really does rock 🙂

    Best thrift tip — I live by this (and by checking out racks of clothing the store hasn’t out yet, usually in the back) “Whenever people put things back at a thrift store, take a minute to go through their discarded options. I found this vest on a rack of coats that people decided they didn’t want. Maybe the people who tried it on before me didn’t like the size or style. Something they thought wasn’t worth a purchase is now a great new piece in my closet.”

    yeah girl! xx
