Filed Under: Looking FLY on a Dime, Thrifty Threads 365

For Fashion’s Night Out a few weeks ago, I went all out with stripes, tulle and animal print. Yeah, I had a lot going on, but {I think?} I made it work by sticking with three base colors (blue, black and gray). Mixing prints can be tricky but when the colors in each print are similar, it maintains a cohesive look.

I knew I wanted to wear the ultra girly Zac Posen for Target tulle skirt and that meant I needed to keep the rest of my outfit pretty simple. But, like I said, it was Fashion’s Night Out, so instead of a basic black pump, I went with an animal print peep toe. To play up the gray in my shoes, I layered a striped tank over an otherwise blah shirt. Accessories were kept to a minimum as not to compete with an already “busy” look.

Shirt: Target, $10
Tank: Express, thrifted for $1
Brooch: free from Goodwill {the sales clerk didn’t know how to price the item, so she just threw it in my bag}
Belt: thrifted, $1
Skirt: Zac Posen for Target, thrifted for $15
Black shorts (under skirt): Banana Republic, thrifted for $1
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini, $30
Bracelets: gifted

{i just had to add this cat pin. meow}

{the skirt is sheer so i added black shorts underneath}

Week three of my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge (a full year where I only buy second-hand clothing) is down. Only 49 more weeks to go!
