Thrifty Threads: Daytime Bodycon Dress

looking fly on a dime, style guide

Remember when I Instagrammed this dress last year? It was Free People {a brand I love} and majorly discounted at TJ Maxx. I knew I’d get tons of wear out of the fitted, printed dress. A dress like this can easily be saucy with a high heel or a bit more casual. Now that the temps are dipping again, I’m back to rocking the Free People dress. And this time around, I decided to keep the frock pretty casual thanks to a few add-ons like accessories and a cable knit top.

To add an extra layer of warmth, my Kohl’s sweater wasn’t just functional, but the bold hue was super fashionable. I never let the cold days of fall or winter turn my wardrobe drab. Color is perfect all year round. And this particular sweater is a fave due to the slight crop in the front and draping at the back.

As I mentioned earlier, a pointy toe heel would have made the outfit a little too sexy for my liking, but my wedge Skechers gave me some added height {there’s a three inch hidden wedge} and toned down the look. I wore the wedges all day and they definitely get the stamp of approval for being extremely comfortable. I’m a stiletto lover, but sometimes my feet need a break. And I can’t wait to keep wearing the Skechers Cheeky boot {it also comes in black!} throughout fall and winter. The rubber sole and sturdy leather are sure to hold up well and make it easy to pound the pavement even when the weather is serving up wind, rain and snow.

From sturdy footwear to sturdy handbags, I can’t be without my Badgley Mischka purse. Of course I didn’t pay full price, it’s another find from TJ Maxx. Psst: don’t forget, you can now shop TJ Maxx online!

So if you have a dress you can’t get enough of, just throw a sweater or cardigan on over it and create a new look.

Nice transitional post – do show more. However you didn’t mention the tights. I’m looking for some “warm” tights for the Fall/Winter months so that I can still wear skirts and dresses.

They’re just basic black tights, I don’t remember where I got them from. You can get a warm and/or textured pair anywhere: Target, Macy’s, H&M
