Thrifty Threads 365: Winter Chic Outfit under $20

Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details check the original post here

Remember my last thrift store haul when I found these leather, rubber sole booties? I immediately scooped them up because I knew they’d be perfect, especially for winter. Flats are for easy walking and stilettos can be tricky, but a rubber sole bootie is stylish and easy to navigate slippery terrain.
I finally took the booties for a spin last week when the streets of NYC were slushy.
While I was getting dressed, I had no idea my entire outfit was thrifted from head to toe. The French Connection sweater dress was just $2 and my fur collar {from Housing Works Buy the Bag} added some glam and additional texture to my leather coat {from Goodwill Outlet}. If you’re looking to update any piece of outerwear, you can’t go wrong with a fur collar.
And the other accessories were also secondhand scores. The earrings look heavy, but they’re surprisingly lightweight. And the purse carries all of my necessities without being oversized or cumbersome.
My entire look was just under $20. The tights were gifted from an awesome company called Bootights {I previously Instagrammed them here}. They’re tights with built in socks at the foot so your feet are warm and don’t slip in your shoes. Genius!
Are you joining the Thrifty Threads 365 challenge? Maybe you can’t commit to a full year, but why not try it for a month or two or three? Tag your photos on social media with #ThriftyThreads365 so we can all see photos from everyone participating.
Each month I’ll highlight a different TT365 participant on the blog. If you want your style showcased and to share how you’re handling the challenge, email me: LookingFlyonaDime {at} gmail {dot} com.

Yes, a fur collar is such a fun way to glam anything up. I have a few vintage ones from my mom.

Hi there, I love thrift shopping, so I was wondering if you would mind tell me a few of the thrift stores that you shop at. Your entire ensemble looks amazing, especially the jewelry, because at the moment I am a big fan of necklace, chains, bracelets and earrings.
By the way, I live in NYC too if you were wondering.
    Thanks.

I mentioned a few stores in the post above and I’ve done previous posts on my favorite NYC shops, just use the search function and you’ll find them!

Hi Patrice, I am so happy to hear that we will be seeing and hearing more from you in the future. We miss you and in case some of you have never met her, she is just as sweet in person. Good luck and a great New Year.
