Thrifty Threads 365: Housing Works Haul, Part Two

Housing Works warehouse sale Earlier this week I showed you my recent Housing Works haul from the Buy the Bag sale. But I found so many goodies {63 pieces for $50 equals less than 80 cents for each item}, I had to split the post up over two days. I gave you a glimpse at the awesome coats and tops I nabbed {including a St. John cardigan} and now it’s time for the bottoms.

My style definitely leans more towards dresses, flirty skirts and even casual skinny jeans, and I found all of the aforementioned.

Peep what I walked away with.

The very first item I saw poking out of a bin was a black tutu {pictured above}. I wasn’t sure what to do with it, but how could I pass up a tutu?! It’s actually going to be a part of my Halloween costume.

designer denim I already told you I’m obsessed with Forever 21 skinny jeans, but it’s usually tricky for me when it comes to thrifting denim, especially if there’s no fitting room. But I was lucky and found three suitable pairs from Levi’s, J. Crew and Hudson. The Hudson jeans in particular {on the right} fit like a glove. These retail for a little over $150, and I got them for less than a buck.

I  love the pockets and gold details on the magenta skirt and the floral Milly mini is divine

And the dresses I found are just amazing. Some are spring and summer appropriate but they can easily transition to fall with tights and a cardigan.

Free People and Banana Republic

the plaid dress has a mod feel and the vintage, printed frock is a great addition to my modern closet

I have to say, this was one of my best Buy the Bag trips yet. My year long Thrifty Threads 365 challenge is almost up, but with amazing pieces like these, I haven’t missed shopping for “new” clothes. Because in my eyes, these clothes are new {to me} and they’re super affordable, which makes them even better!

What’s been your greatest thrift store score so far? Do you prefer thrift shopping versus going to a department store or major chain?

I love your blog! You have inspired me to shop at thrift stores more often. On Sunday I scored an awesome pair of Guess jeans for $8, among other things. I love finding great bargains like that.

My closet is about 80% Thrifted, both of my girls love to shop thrift as well.  We save so much money and have the largest wardrobes. I am currently trying to decorate our renovated farm house out of upcycled and recycled items.

You scored a Milly item for less than a dollar?!  That is a SUPER DUPER score!  Congrats to you.  Wish we had a Housing Works out here (West Coast).  Love your blog.

You seem to find awesome stuff wherever you go!  How often do you switch out pieces?  I seem to give things away with the turn of every season, then just buy more.  I don’t really feel guilty because I rarely pay more than $8 – $10 for anything I buy, and usually it is far less.  Just wondering how often you rotate/restyle your stuff.  As far as my best/favorite find, I found a dress that is short enough that it could also be a long shirt over jeans – it has a black and white pattern with a yellow band, making it an empire waist (ties in a bow in back).  I absolutely love it – and I found it for $6 at Goodwill.

I try to take inventory on my closet every 3 or 4 months. Anything I haven’t worn within that time or whatever just doesn’t fit my style any more, I give to friends or donate back to the thrift store.
