Thrifty Threads 365: Easy Breezy Maxi Dress

Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details, check the original post here.
Thrifty Threads 365: Maxi Dress and Crop Top Combo There’s something so effortless about a maxi dress. It’s a simple one piece, but the floor grazing effect has a regal feel to it. And a maxi is my go-to piece when I’m in a rush, traveling or just don’t feel like getting dressed.
I’ve had this super soft cotton maxi dress for at least five years {purchased from Strawberry for less than $15!} and it’s seriously on its last leg, but I can’t seem to let it go. To add a different feel to it, I layered a vintage cut off t-shirt over it.

The shirt was purchased a few years ago during my San Francisco trip when I hit up a slew of thrift stores. My absolute favorite shop was Clothes Contact, where vintage threads were just $10 per pound. Until now I’ve worn the shirt with high waist pants and shorts, but this day I felt like pairing it with my maxi.
Remember my post earlier this week on how to jet set in styleI would absolutely add a maxi dress to the list of fashionable, functional garments to wear while traveling.
My accessories were pretty minimal and included oversized LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s sunglasses, layered necklaces, random bracelets and a few dainty rings.
Thrifty Threads 365: thrift store purse For my purse, I’ve really been into my Egyptian-themed bag from the Salvation Army. I think it was less than $10 and I’ve gotten some serious use out of it. It’s large enough to hold the necessities without being too cumbersome.
We’re almost six months into Thrifty Threads 365. If you’re doing the challenge, either for the full year or just a few months, be sure to keep tagging those pics with #ThriftyThreads365 on Instagram, Twitter, etc. I love seeing what thrift store scores you’ve found and how you’re wearing them.
What are your go-to summer styles for an effortless look? Do you have an interesting or different way you rock your maxi dress?
