Thrifty Threads 365: $10 Thrift Shopping Haul

Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details check the original post here
Yesterday I hit up my fave midtown thrift store, Salvation Army on 46th St, and struck thrift gold after less than an hour. I wasn’t exactly looking for anything in particular, but I’m always on the look out for more dresses. Also, Wednesday is Family Day, so most clothes and accessories are half off.
My final bill was just under 10 bucks and I walked away with great pieces I can wear now and easily transition in to spring.
-Gap striped a-line skirt, $2.50
If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve already seen this skirt. There were about a dozen Gap skirts in pink and green and I wasn’t sure which color to choose. Though a lot of you weighed in on Instagram and said I should buy both {they were only $2.50!!}, I went with the pink one. I’m not a huge fan of green, so buying that one wouldn’t have made much sense for my taste. Just because something is “cheap,” that’s no reason to scoop it up. But I loved the pink one, so that’s what I copped and can’t wait to wear it.
-Banana Republic open front cardigan: $4
I love Banana Republic’s clothes, but I’m not always fond of their prices for basic pieces. So I was excited when I found this open cardigan with oversized collar. Though it’s such a simple garment, it’s perfect over a pair of skinny jeans, leggings or a fitted skirt. And you can leave it open or belt it to accentuate your waist. The top has belt loops, so I’m assuming a belt originally came with it, but I’ll probably wear it with a skinny printed belt or a brightly colored one to add some serious color. Similar cardigans like this are currently being sold for up to $130 on Banana Republic’s site.
-Pink Tartan mini skirt, $1.50
It’s freezing in most parts of the country right now, but that’s no reason to ditch skirts or even minis. This one is weather appropriate {thanks to the wool!} and the neutral tones make it wearable with anything. A Pink Tartan skirt would typically run close to $150, but I scored mine for 1 percent of the original price tag! This is definitely a thrift store score.
-Tresics little white dress, $1.99
A little black dress {LBD} is necessary for every wardrobe and I’d argue a LWD {little white dress} is too! This one is simple, but I love the details, including the pockets and high neckline with buttons. White is great for winter, as long as the material is solid enough for the elements.
My total came to $9.96. Not bad for a 30 minute shopping trip! I’m not sure if I’ll do any more thrifting this month, but if I do, I have $40 left for my monthly budget.
Have you done any thrifting so far this year? What did you score? If you’re joining the Thrifty Threads 365 project, are you sticking to a monthly budget? Be sure to tag your pics online with #ThriftyThreads365 so we can all see your amazing finds.

Love everything and you’re right, those long sweaters are perfect over leggings and flats or flat boots. I’m going to try the challenge starting in February.

Great pieces!! I’m in for the challenge. Went thrifting last weekend while visiting VA. Spent way too much…$30, but my thrifting goal is to also buy high quality pieces, no more polyester. Also got some basic like belts and scarves.
