When and why did you start thrift shopping?
I started thrift shopping with my mom when I was very young. My mom always had a flair for vintage things: clothing, furniture and especially handbags. I always felt that there was something special about giving new life to things that someone else wasn’t using anymore. I still feel the same way now!

What three words would you use to describe your style?
Creative. Bold. Fly.

Kristi xoxo, rick owens boots, rick owens for less What’s your best thrift store score {a standout garment or accessory you absolutely love or a cheap designer find}?
It’s hard to say what my very best thrift store score is – I have so many! Recent favorites include the black Rick Owens S/S 2010 wedge peep toe boots {above} where I’m wearing that Maison Martin Margiela + H&M dress. I found these fabulous boots last month at a Goodwill here in LA for $9.99. I looked them up online and they originally sold for upwards of $1000 and these ones look like they had only been worn once!

What are your favorite stores in your area?
My favorite stores are not necessarily in the most commercial areas. Ventura Blvd has got tons of resale and vintage shops but I always find better deals and more interesting things if I go to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I also shop estate sales almost every Saturday morning. Estate sales are where I find amazing fur coats and vintage bags, gloves, scarves and jewelry. My very best estate sale find ever is that authentic red Chanel 2.55 chain bag {below} that I got for $4. The reversible mink/leather jacket is also an estate sale find. And the picture with the Scottish golf tam is a new favorite outfit – the hat and golf sweater are from an estate sale and they’re both menswear and cost me $3 each and the shoes were from a Goodwill in Sherman Oaks.

The best advice I can give is to keep an open mind and just explore everything in the store – my best finds are usually not something that I go out searching for. I usually shop “off season” and find the best jackets and sweaters in summer when everyone is looking for warm-weather clothes. I always find cute, summery things in the winter.
