Thrift Store Score – Statement Blazer

This weekend I made a trip to Housing Works {157 East 23rd St} and after less than five minutes in the store, my heart stopped. I’m working on a project and was shopping for other people but I inevitably found something for myself.

Leafing through an entire rack of clothing, especially if it’s tightly packed, can be time consuming, but I always tell people to maintain a sharp eye for colors and patterns they love.

Since I’m a sucker for anything shimmery, this black and gold blazer clearly stood out. Besides the awesome collar, it’s the other details that really caught my eye. The gold buttons…

The tapered back: it’s super figure flattering. I’ll most likely wear this with a body con skirt or skinny jeans to balance out the proportions.

I affectionately call this my King Tut blazer. So regal!

Instead of buying multiples of pieces I already have in my closet, I’ve vowed to only purchase clothing and accessories that are unlike anything I already own. The blazer was $30, which was pretty “expensive” for a thrift store purchase, but it’s such a statement piece that it was well worth the price.
