The Only Garment You Need to Buy This Season

statement-winter-coat-looking-fly-on-a-dime-bold-outerwear Every new season means it’s time to swap out the old for the new. However, who has the time or money to buy fresh threads each season?!
If you’re strapped for cash, there’s just one garment you need this winter. It will keep you warm and make your old clothes look fresh.

If you couldn’t already guess, the only garment you need this season is a coat. Let me clarify. Not just any coat, but a statement making, stunner! A bold hue and intricate details give new life to what’s already in your closet. And not to mention the perfect coat will perk up your mood on any day when temps are below freezing. Also, because you’ll be in the coat so much, after just a few wears you’ll get more than your moneys worth.
I’ve already shown you the vintage Christian Dior coat I scored from the Salvation Army coat sale. In addition to the color {you can see that red coming a mile away!}, the velvet collar and double breasted black buttons are everything I could ever want.
I totally understand everyone isn’t a fan of bright colors, but why not try something different this season? Or you can stick with the safety of neutrals, but try a print or details like mixed textures, asymmetrical hems or an exaggerated collar that go beyond the basic outerwear.

You can always check your local thrift store for options {remember, now is the best time to thrift shop!} and below are a few gorgeous coats under $75.
Have you bought your winter coat yet? Did you thrift or buy one from a department store? Is your outerwear style bright and bold or on the neutral side?

Yes, I’m all about a statement making coat. I’m wearing the red Christian Dior today 🙂

I love your blog and cannot wait to see what you are up to in 2015!

Last week I scored a like-new Jones New York suede and faux shearling coat at a Twin Cities Value Village for $1.29! I wore it today running errands and it felt like I was in the warm snuggle of a Muppet. Thanks for pointing out the impact of a statement coat!
