Taking Time – Unapologetically and Intentionally

Time. It’s a tricky thing. We never seem to have enough of it. Or we’re trying to speed things up because we have our heart and mind set on a desired outcome.

Like a lot of people, I’m impatient. I hate waiting and have a now, now, now attitude.

So, the fact that I’m embarking a 10-day meditation retreat is laughable to some people {and even to myself!}. This is 10 days of silence, meditation, no wifi, phones, books, pen, paper. Nothing! Oh, and a vegetarian diet…and I am *not* a vegetarian.

I actually did the retreat about seven years ago and it was a beautiful experience. But a lot has changed in my life in seven years. I have more professional responsibilities and freelance projects, a blog that needs to be run and social media channels that need to be updated. Constantly.

During the first retreat I had a level of excitement for the unexpected. But now, it’s just straight anxiety about “missing out” on life for 10 days.

What if I miss a business opportunity? My inbox will be in shambles. What if I miss an important call or text??? How will my Instagram suffer because I haven’t posted in over a week?

I finally had to and continue to stop myself and say, “it’s not that deep. Relax.”  Whatever is mine will be mine when I get back. I won’t “miss” anything. I’m still a bit anxious but mostly excited to see what I take away from the experience.

Oh, and did I mention that the retreat is free?! Yeah, it’s free-99. The meditation sessions, food and lodging are all free! I’ll share more details about the retreat once I return and have a minute to collect my thoughts.

While I’m gone, feel free to catch up on any blog content you may have missed {especially this Best Face Forward guide I put together for ways to be a better public speaker and how to use fashion to attract your audience!}. And definitely check out the Highlights in my Instagram profile {@PatriceJWill}. That’s where I’ve saved a lot of style tips, travel hacks and more, including how I re-wear the same item of clothing throughout the years, but in different ways {like the Mickey Mouse vintage sweatshirt above}.
