Cubicle Chic: Trendy Solutions for a Creative Office

I might be biased, but I think creatives just have more fun! While traditional corporate America is used to the idea of wearing a suit to work, many creative offices {design, fashion, public relations} reject that entire notion. This not only leaves room for, but also quite often creates an expectation of, trendy outfits. Now, while it may be tempting to go all out at your laid-back office, always remember it’s still a place of business! In this week's Cubicle Chic, check out three looks that work well at a creative office. It's easier than you think to combine trendy, affordable style with a few classic pieces.

WE tv braxton family valuesIf you guys follow me on Instagram {user: LookingFlyonaDime} or like my Facebook fan page, then you may have seen some photos from earlier this month referencing my shoot with WE tv. Well, now I can give you the dish! I filmed two Cinematherapy segments for the network.

During the commercial breaks for Braxton Family Values, host Jackie Tranchida and I give you the dish on must have items for fall. The advertiser for this week's Cinematherapy is Burlington Coat Factory, so everything is super affordable. And like I mentioned, I didn't film just one segment, but two. During the 7pm show of the Braxtons, I'll show you a great piece from Burlington that can transition your wardrobe from summer to fall. And during the 8pm show's commercial break, you'll see another must have piece for the fall months.I know most people, self included, tune out or fast forward when commercials come on, but you'll want to stay tuned in between the Braxton episodes.I took a few picks during the shoot just to give you a peek at what you can see on Thursday's Cinematherapy episodes.

Sigh, it's Fashion Week in NYC. Although I have a style blog and my background is in fashion, I kinda sorta hate Fashion Week. There, I finally admitted it. But, I still have to attend some shows and events so the inevitable question becomes what to wear. I love a girly dress, but I tend to go casual chic during Fashion Week, especially when Fall gives us chilly, rainy weather.Instead of an over the top outfit, I usually stick with one statement piece, typically a pair of heels.

Leather in the summer time? The two just didn't seem to mix. However, I've been obsessed with leather shorts ever since my homie Danielle {aka The Style & Beauty Doctor} rocked a pair at a concert we went to last year. I've been on the look out for them at my fave thrift stores but never lucked up.

This week Loehmann's invited me to an event and gave all bloggers in attendance a gift card. My Thrifty Threads 365 challenge only lets me wear new, non-thrifted clothing if it's a gift. So I was excited when the first item I stumbled upon was a pair of leather shorts. Check out how I wore them along with my thrift store finds. And be sure to check back next week for more on what I found at the Loehmann's event.

Since most of my wardrobe is thrifted, there are times when I rock a head to toe thrift store look. And that's exactly what happened this week. I wanted a nice pop of color so I chose my red, sweetheart neckline dress I recently bought from the Salvation Army. After picking out my accessories, I realized the entire ensemble was courtesy of thrift stores {minus an adorable straw purse my cousin gave me a few months ago}.
