If you follow me on social media {Twitter and Instagram}, then you know I scored big over the weekend. And if you don't follow me on those channels, I'm telling you now: I scored big over the weekend!!!

Last week I shared news about the massive NYC Salvation Army coat sale. Furs, trenches, leathers and more for unbeatable prices. The annual sale is held once a month in October, November and December and attracts thrifters seeking the best deals you can find on outerwear. I sat out last year's sales, but I made up for it this time around.Keep reading to see what I bought, what I passed on and why it's so important to thrift shop with people who really know you.

Fall doesn't officially arrive for a few days, but it's time to start gearing up for chilly days and brisk nights. Yesterday we showed you how to effortlessly transition your wardrobe, but today it's all about a few additions you need in your closet. And of course, you don't have to spend a ton.
These are three fall style staples you can find at your local thrift shop. They're fashionable, functional and easy on the wallet.

Thrifty Threads 365: Peter Som for Kohl's
I remember checking out the Peter Som DesignNation for Kohl's line last year and I was smitten. The easy, breezy look {Som says the line was inspired by St. Barths!} was just my style and there was a white moto jacket I had to have.
Fast forward months later and the line is finally available. I don't have the moto jacket, but Kohl's was awesome enough to send over a few pieces from the line. And once again, I'm in love. While I prefer a sweet frock or black skinny jeans, I was amazed to find I fell in love with the Peter Som printed pants and I got my moto fix with an asymmetrical zipper vest.

Where can you normally find me on a Wednesday? The Salvation Army {46th Street between 10th and 11th Avenues}! Most of the clothes and accessories are 50 percent off on Wednesday so you can seriously rack up. On my last Salvation Army haul, I spent $85 and found more than a dozen goodies. Well, this time around I spend less than 10 bucks but walked away with three fun pieces, including a pair of booties, a French Connection dress and vintage frock.

Reselling thrift store clothes, ethical fashion
Last week a reader commented and asked a question I've heard before. Of course I responded directly to her but since this isn't the first time the question has come up, I decided to blog about it and see what you guys think.
After writing my 3 Tips to Selling Clothes Online {clothes you've outgrown or amazing pieces you thrifted}, Vyla asked: "...don't you think the people who donated that stuff to thrift stores wants someone who normally can't afford the item to enjoy it? Instead of you reselling it and making a profit?"
I can understand why some people would have an issue with or feel conflicted about making a profit off of something that was donated as an act of charity.
