A few weeks ago I attended a Family Dollar beauty event and to say that I was overwhelmed would be an understatement {check out a portion of the beauty goods I walked away with here}. But it was a good overwhelmed. Family Dollar had a ton of brands on hand to discuss their new and existing products and one of the suppliers was L.A. Colors. I naturally gravitated toward their booth because I had never heard of them! But I’m so glad I changed that. Besides having a full range of makeup {less than $5!}, I fell in love with one item in particular.

The L.A. Colors Eyeshadow Primer promises to keep your shadow in place and no creasing. After trying it for three weeks, I can honestly tell you this product works! It gets the beauty on a dime stamp of approval.

I’m clueless when it comes to layering eyeshadows or how to create a smokey eye so I figured a compact that spells it out for you would be perfect. I purchased the NYC IndividualEyes Custom Compact a few weeks ago from my local drugstore for $4. The three different shades are meant to enhance your eye color: Union Square for brown eyes, Bryant Park for blue eyes and Central Park for green eyes. Since I’m a brown eyed girl, I went with Union Square.

The kits includes everything from primer, all over lid shadow, crease shadow, illuminator and a highlighter. The back of the package shows you which shadows to apply where. I was really impressed the compact came with a primer to keep shadow in place and from creasing.

I tried the NYC IndividualEyes Custom Compact out and…

Beauty Review: Wet n Wild Color Icon

I’m normally not in to eyeshadow, I’m just obsessed with mascara {as you can tell by my reviews here, here and here} but I couldn’t resist Wet n Wild’s Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio. I love how the product lays it right out for you with instructions on which shadow to put on your browbone, crease and lid. Simple as can be. The palettes come in colors like Walking on Eggshells {which I purchased}, Don’t Steal My Thunder, On Cloud Nine and Sweet as Candy.

The product states: “Coordinating trio shades takes the guesswork out of creating the perfect eye look. The “how to” palettes are created to highlight, define, and accentuate specific eye colors to create unique looks.

The $1.99 price tag was pretty great, but I wanted to know if it actually held up or would it crease and fade.

I have the greasiest lids in history {seriously!} so it’s a must that I use primer with any shadow. I applied a dab of Too Faced Shadow Insurance and applied the shadow to my lid, crease and browbone and then blended a bit.

I normally never apply any shadow or highlighter to my brow because I think it will look silly but I loved how the metallic shadow really highlighted my eyes and gave a subtle pop!

The shadow actually held up as well as any other product I’ve used before. At $1.99, I’ll definitely be racking up on a few other shades. Next time I may go for a bright, bold color.

Have you tried Wet n Wild beauty products before? What was your verdict?
