how to wear printsDuro Olowu is known for his heavily printed garments and that’s exactly what the U.K. based designer is bringing to JCPenney. The jcp line features the same tribal, checkered and chevron prints, but not the high end price tag associated with the designer’s usual line. With clothes, accessories and home items ranging from $10 to $100, this really is an affordable designer collaboration.

The collection hits stores on Friday and it’s right on time as prints are still going strong and quite a few pieces embrace the hot new color combo of black and white.

Why I’m Excited Over Prabal Gurung for Target

It’s T-minus two days until the Prabal Gurung for Target collection hits stores on the Sunday. I’ve previously posted about my so-so attitude toward designer collaborations {sometimes the pieces look and feel a bit cheap and other times, the prices are way too high}, but this Prabal line doesn’t fall in to either of those categories. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ve already witnessed me raving about the new line.

Target’s had a ton of designer collaborations from Mulberry to Missoni, but I can honestly say the Prabal Gurung line is my absolute favorite. The quality and standout style is definitely worth way more than the average $40 price tag.

Upcoming Designer Collaborations: Excited or Over Them?

target and neiman marcus holiday collection

Designer collaborations have been around for years now and we know the drill. An affordable retailer {Target, H&M, Kohl’s, etc} teams up with a high end designer {Jason Wu, Versace, etc}, everyone lines up in the wee hours of the morning to scoop everything up before they’re sold out and selling for triple the original price on eBay.

Well, this holiday season is no different. It seems every major chain is unveiling pieces for those who love high style but don’t want to pay full price.

First up, the Target + Neiman Marcus holiday collection debuts on December 1 in stores and online. The line features 50 items from top designers like Marchesa, Carolina Herrera and Tracy Reese. Items range from luggage, home decor and of course, clothes. Since it’s Target, the price range starts at super affordable {just $7.99}, but this is also a designer collection so the most expensive piece is from Alice + Olivia, a $500 floral print bike.

Versace for H&M. Missoni for Target. Alberta Ferretti for Macy’s. Christian Siriano for Payless. These are just a few of the collaborations between affordable retailers and top name designers. And it’s a trend that’s not ending anytime soon.

It was just announced that Target is teaming up with Neiman Marcus and 24 designers {including Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Diane von Furstenberg} for a holiday collection.

I’m all for the designer collabos, they can be a great way to get a taste of your favorite designer without seriously going over budget. But…
