Can We Talk About Balmain for H&M and Why Designer Collabs Should Die?

Sigh. I hate doing rant posts and I’m going to do my best to not turn this into just that. But can we talk for a minute? Like, a real talk.

I’m so over affordable retailers and their designer collaborations. And last week’s Balmain for H&M disaster was my final straw.

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Kohl’s, particularly the flirty skirts and dresses from LC Lauren Conrad or the Jennifer Lopez jumpsuits. But if there’s a collection I’m really excited for, it’s their latest DesignNation collaboration: Elie Tahari for Kohl’s.

I previewed the line a few months ago and it’s full of chic black and white hues {similar to the Catherine Malandrino line!}, ultra soft material and a NYC vibe. Casual knit pants, bold sweatshirts and work appropriate dresses will have you covered all season.

And in honor of my 5 year blogiversary, I’m offering another giveaway, this time it’s a $100 gift card to Kohl’s.

Thrifty Threads 365 is a fashion challenge where I will only thrift shop for an entire year. I’ll show you how it’s easy and wallet friendly to satisfy your style needs with secondhand finds. For full details, check the original post here.
Last weekend’s weather was absolutely gorgeous, so that meant it was perfect for a full day of thrift shopping and brunch. Before hitting up Lido in Harlem {gotta love bottomless mimosas!}, my friend LaToya and I checked out the Goodwill in East Harlem.
Though I ended up with a cart full of clothes, I only walked away with one item. Read on to see why I passed on a few items {they were great, but they weren’t great} and see how I found a ton of new Target merchandise at Goodwill.
