patrice j. williams, home savvy show
I just wrapped up hosting the third season of Madame Noire's Home Savvy show and the final episode is all about decorating for the holidays. This is undoubtedly the time of year you're bound to have tons of guests and it's easy to get overwhelmed with prepping your space. But it doesn't have to be that way. You don't have to invest a ton of money or time to upgrade your home.
If you love to entertain, here's how to prep for the holidays!

As you guys know, I'm the new host of Madame Noire's Home Savvy show. And for the latest episode, I was able to incorporate my love of thrifting in to the online show. Though I usually just buy clothes and even books from secondhand shops, these places can also be great for furniture. I've scored tons of pieces from my favorite thrift stores, including these leopard chairs and ombre lamp I bought at the Salvation Army.
These pieces were in perfect condition, but what do you do when thrifted furniture needs a little TLC? Well, it's easier than you think to clean up a piece of furniture and even add fun elements so it has a one of a kind look.

HOME SAVVY, PATRICE J WILLIAMSLast month I told you guys about my new gig as the host of Madame Noire's Home Savvy show. Well, the first episode just debuted! The entire season is all about upgrading your living space in easy, affordable ways. Episode one is dedicated to creating a summer window box to bring life and vibrancy to your home.Though you only get to see the upper half of my body, I had to give you the full rundown of my outfit...

how to decorate on a budgetI recently moved in to a new apartment and after I finally found an affordable, safe place in New York City, my next struggle was decorating on a limited budget. But of course a sparse budget hasn't kept me from creating a cozy space.

I've been able to use secondhand pieces and even items from the dollar store to dress up my new bedroom {I'm still working on the living room}.
From a $30 entertainment center from the Salvation Army that I turned in to a dresser to $1 glass jars I store accessories in, peep the video to see how I decorate on a dime.

A reader recently emailed me and wrote, "Patrice, what percentage of your wardrobe is thrifted? I'd love to see your closet!"I've been an avid thrifter for a few years and since I started my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge, thrift shopping is my only source of clothing. At this point, I'd say 60 percent of my wardrobe is courtesy of thrifting {here are a few of my favorite thrift stores}. And 60 percent is a conservative estimate. There are some items, like tops and dresses, that I thrift more than others.I recently moved from my cramped Harlem studio and my new closet is a small walk in, which makes organization a bit easier.Check out the pics below of how I organize my closet as well as how I store accessories using push pins and shower hooks.
