Quick Ways to Prevent Blisters from Your Strappy Sandals

I live for a good strappy sandal, but the blisters they cause are pure hell! Whether you’re walking around for hours or even just minutes and your shoe starts to rub against your skin, that means an annoying, painful blister is coming in 4, 3, 2…

But instead of being miserable while walking or having to swear off your favorite heels, here are a few ways to make your shoes more comfortable and wearable this summer.

Blisters start forming when your skin repeatedly rubs back and forth against the material of the shoe. These two tricks below are easy to use and you can buy them when you’re on the go.
My tried and true solution to preventing blisters is a stick of clear deodorant. The brand really doesn’t matter. Just rub it against the areas of your feet that tend to blister and the deodorant acts as a barrier between your shoes and your precious feet. This is similar to Blister Block, but just cheaper.
Another way to create a barrier involves moleskin. A few strips of the soft material can add a bit of cushioning where needed. I loved these Machi Footwear metallic sandals, but the back of the shoe always rubs against my heel, so I’ll be adding some moleskin. Just take a pair of scissors and cut the material to fit the inside of your shoe {the back, straps, etc.}. This is a great solution if you have a pair of shoes that always cause blisters, calluses or corns in the same spot{s}. And the moleskin padding is great on the go. Just cut up a few strips before you head out and keep them in your purse if you need to apply them during the day.
Both of these solutions can be found at any drugstore and for less than $5. Go with the big name brands or stick with the generic, which is just as effective.

I just got a new pair of flats that are super cute ( of course ) but keep rubbing my poor heels raw. Great tips! I’m going to dry the Dr. Scholls moleskin to see if that helps.

Great tips! Now if I can only stop my ankle from popping every time I walk in heels, I will be in heaven!!
