Thrifty Thursday: The $25 Stunner Dress from Sears

You ever find a dress on the racks that stops you in your tracks? Well that’s not exactly what happened during my visit to Sears. I saw a bright cobalt maxi dress and thought it was okay, but I’m so glad I gave it a second look.

It turns out she’s a stunner. And just $25. This Sears dress is a new favorite and great for almost every occasion.

Like I said earlier, the color was the first thing that attracted me to the garment. But other than that, maxis can look a bit blah when placed on a hanger. But upon second review, I caught the little details: plunging neckline, asymmetrical hem and front draping.

That’s when I grabbed it, tried it on and walked out of the store with it 15 minutes later.

A bold color like this needs little in the way of accessories, so I kept it pretty simple with a thick gold necklace from Lydell NYC, ShoeDazzle pumps I’ve had forever and the thrifted envelope clutch I upgraded with my grandma’s vintage jewelry.

While the cut of the dress is a bit sexy {it hugs your curves!}, I actually dressed this down and wore it to Walmart later in the day. All I needed was a denim jacket and flat sandals. And if the neckline is too low for you, just layer a slim cami underneath. This dress can easily be worn for date night, a beach day or even to an outdoor wedding. Just one note, an important one: the material is pretty sheer so whip out the proper undergarments.

Unfortunately it looks like the dress is sold out online {the brand is Bongo} but I saw quite a few at my Sears location. I’ll keep hunting for the dress and will update with a link if I find one {or if you find one, let me know please!}. And you just might want to pay a visit to Sears anyway. As you can tell from my What’s In Store post earlier this week, they’re full of summer frocks in the $25 and under range.
