Salvation Army Haul – Dresses Galore

Last week I had some time to kill before heading to a Meshell Ndegeocello concert so I did what I do best…went thrifting! I made my way to the Salvation Army on 46th St. where most items are 50 percent off on Wednesdays.

I love wearing dresses year round but especially in the summer so I was on the lookout for girly dresses and skirts. And apparently it was my lucky day because I walked away with some flirty, colorful pieces for the warm days.

Every item I purchased was half off and the most expensive piece was $7.50. I ended up with 10 items for $32. Check out my favorite ones below.

This dress speaks to my sartorial spirit. The A-line style, crisp white hue and cute details immediately caught my eye. It even has a bit of tulle underneath.

I found another A-line dress but this one was strapless and flowy. After purchasing this, I realized it’s the only red frock in my closet.

Once again, it’s all about the little details. I love the sweetheart neckline and ruching at the bodice.

After hitting the jackpot with the dresses, I headed to the skirt rack and my luck continued when I found this floor grazing, cream skirt. It’s a bit too long so I’ll have to hem it or hike it up.

Bright colors automatically catch your eye when thrift shopping and this number below definitely made me do a double take. The accordion style and midi length are right on trend!

I stumbled back to the dress racks and I’m so glad I did. I found this…

I love a great maxi dress. They’re super casual and comfy for warmer temps. But this one right here? It has a glam feel with the python print and high split. I’ll have to sew part of the split up, it’s a bit too high.

I promised myself I wouldn’t buy any more tops because I have too many, but adding a little animal print to my closet never hurts.

Thrift Tip: Double Back to the Racks

When you haven’t found what you’re looking for on a particular rack or section, move on and come back 20 minutes later or before you head to the register. Between the time you first searched the racks and when you come back, sales associates may have put more items out on the floor or another customer may have put back a piece you’ll want.

When I initially shopped the dress racks, the python print maxi wasn’t there. However, when I came back, she was there for the taking.

Also, be sure to sign up for your local thrift store’s newsletter or follow them on Twitter so you’re award of all discount days.
