Review and Giveaway: Pantene Pro-V Collection

natural hair care, pantene conditioner When it comes to hair care, I lean towards brands that specialize in natural hair. Products that moisturize my parched locks, keep frizz at bay and give my kinks some definition is always at the top of my list.

I previously used a few Pantene products when my hair was relaxed, but post-natural, I haven’t touched any of the company’s products. So I was curious to try the Pantene Pro-V Truly Natural collection. Specifically designed for the naptural girl, the five products range from shampoo to conditioner to styling aides.

First up was the Clarifying Shampoo. I immediately looked at the ingredients and noticed sodium lauryl sulfate was the second on the list, so I passed on this item. My hair is ridiculously dry, so using any shampoo with a sulfate was a no-no for me. But I was pleasantly surprised by the Co-Wash.

Natural girls are more than familiar with the term “co-wash” {washing your hair with conditioner vs. shampoo}, and this clarifying cleanser let me know that Pantene is tuned in to what the natural community wants and needs. At 22 ounces, it’s a huge bottle, which I found helpful since I use a lot of product when I wash. The scent was light, but slightly floral.

Next, I slathered the Deep Conditioner on my hair, specifically focusing on my ends. The conditioner added a touch of softness, which made detangling easier. After letting the conditioner sit for 30 minutes, I rinsed {my hair felt clean without being stripped} and was ready to move on to the Defining Curly Styling Custard.

This was probably the product I was most anxious to try. I’ve used quite a few creams, custards and other concoctions that claim to define curls. A little of this stuff definitely goes a long way. As far as helping to define curls, it did. But I’m not sure if it worked better than some other products, so I’ll have to give it another try. And the final icing on the cake was the Shine Serum with Argan Oil.

I tend to stay away from “shine” oils because I find they just coat the outer layer of hair without really penetrating and moisturizing. But this one gave me a bit of shine and moisture without the oily, shiny look.

natural hair care, looking fly on a dime My go-to, lazy style for spring and summer tends to be a high bun. It keeps my hair out of my face and buns have such a regal look and feel. I plan on trying the line again so I can really see if it will become apart of my regular hair routine. But I can tell you I adored the moisturizing affect and curl definition.

And if you’ve never tried the Pantene Pro-V line, now you can win one Pantene Pro-V collection of your choice {either the Truly Natural or Truly Relaxed items}.
