Looking Fly on a Dime Shop & Tours

Over the past two years, some of you have asked me about opening an online shop. While I’m out thrifting I tend to post photos on Twitter or Facebook of great thrift store finds. But if they don’t fit me or they’re not my style, I end up leaving them at the store. Well, now that’s about to change.

I just opened the Looking Fly on a Dime Shop. You can snag some designer and statement thrifted and vintage pieces at a fraction of what they’d originally cost.

Right now I have a half dozen pieces for sale, including:
Dolce Vita dress

Vintage Elen Cy jacket

Stuart Weitzman tortoise pumps

I’ll add a few new pieces to the shop every week and I’ll occasionally have promo codes. I’m nearing 3,300 Facebook fans and 2,000 Twitter followers, so once I hit those marks, I’ll give a 15 percent discount on every item in the store for one week.

Also, in the upcoming months, I’m bringing back the Adventures in Thrifting tours. If you need some one-on-one thrift shopping tips or if you’re visiting NYC and want some thrift shopping guidance without wasting too much time, you can schedule a tour with me. I’ll post more details about Adventures in Thrifting soon. In the meantime, if you know you’ll be in the city on certain days and want to schedule a tour, drop me a line {contact page is above}.

I so appreciate you guys supporting Looking Fly on a Dime and I’m super excited for the continued growth and spreading the idea that your wallet never determines your style.

Good for you! I have ebay and etsy shops and do fairly well with them but am thinking of adding a shopping section to my blog. With your blog/twitter/fb base being so large, it should bring some good traffic to your store.
If I may make a suggestion from one reseller to another, you might want to think about adding the following measurements where applicable: pit to pit, sleeve length, garment length, waist, hip. We know how a medium in one brand can feel like small in another, and vintage sizing is surprisingly different (a size 14 is like a size small!)
Best wishes with your new venture 🙂

That’s great!  I’ve been following your blog for a while now.  If you shipped to the UK I’d be a happy shopper 🙂

I may start opening up the shop to international shoppers. If there’s something in particular you have your eye on, just drop me an email!

Thanks! I’ve done a few posts on plus size thrift shopping. Just check the archives. And particularly enter “plus size” in the search field and you’ll pull up some posts!

I saw the Nate Berkus show. Actually, it just went off.  Loved it.  You look great; I absolutely love the dress you had on this morning.  The info was so helpful.  I pray that you continue doing well and helping people get the look without the cost.  I thrift shop also, because I am a single mother with 4 children, but I still like to look decent.  Also, midstream in my weight loss, I really don’t want to spend major bucks on clothing knowing that the weight is going down.  Oh, big find –  brand new 3 piece Jones New York navy blue pinstrip suit – pants, skirt and blazer for $29.  Because I am still in school; but job searching, this was like winning a million dollars.  I would love to hear more from you.
