How To Wear Leather This Spring

Leather is typically associated with fall and winter. It’s the heavier material you wear when the temps are a bit frigid. But that’s changing. We saw tons of leather on the runways of Charlotte Ronson, DKNY and in countless other spring 2013 collections. But exactly how do you wear this material without sweating your buns off? Actually, it’s quite easy. And you don’t have to pay a major price.
You can choose a pair of shorts, sheath dress or even a biker vest, but I love a great skirt for spring and summer. And last week I picked up a lightweight faux leather skater skirt from Strawberry for $13.
Check out three easy ways you can style a leather skirt this spring for any occasion, from weekend to work.
For a casual afternoon or even an outdoor festival, you can’t beat a simple t-shirt. A graphic print or one with you cutesy slogan can be picked up from any thrift stores for less than a buck. Since this look is so subdued, you can really add on the accessories {funky belt, bangles, necklaces, etc.}.
Leather naturally has an edgier feel and to juxtapose that, a button down shirt is your best friend. This is another casual, but not so casual look. You could easily wear this {with your favorite pumps} for a night out with your girls or your guy.
And a leather skirt can certainly be appropriate for the work place, depending on the length and cut. A blazer instantly adds a bit of class and the printed top underneath pops against the all black.
When choosing to wear leather this spring, just make sure it’s lightweight and/or has a lining on the inside so your skin doesn’t get sweaty against the material.

  1. Yes, I’m with Budget Babe, the first look is my fave. I always go to Summer Stage in NYC in the summer, so it’s perfect 🙂
