What: Nubian Skin, nude lingerie for women of color

Why: All “nudes” aren’t created equally. It’s super frustrating when a shade that’s been deemed nude is far from compatible with my brown skin. From needing a bra that I can wear under a white blouse or hosiery that mimics my actual skin tone, black and brown women have struggled to find such products. That’s where Nubian Skin comes in. The UK-based company provides nude-tone lingerie for brown skin ladies. Can we all collectively say, AMEN! I first heard about Nubian Skin about a month ago and now you can finally buy the undergarments online.

Nubian Skin currently has four shades {below, from left to right}: berry, cinnamon, caramel and cafe au lait.

If you’re not really sure what color you should get, the brand offers a few guidelines based on makeup foundation. Example: “Berry” is your shade if you use Mac NW50, Iman Earth 6 or Laura Mercier Espresso. Or “Cinnamon” would be your lingerie color if you use Iman Earth 3-4, Bobbi Brown Warm Walnut or Nars Macao.

Bras {30B-36DD} include push ups and seamless t-shirt bras and panties {S/M/L/XL} feature cuts like thongs, briefs and lace boy shorts.

What I’m really looking forward to is the tights and hold-ups, which give you the coverage you need for a chilly day or the office, but it has a barely-there appearance. The hosiery isn’t available yet, but I’ll be checking back on a regular basis because I have a feeling they’ll sell out fast!
