Changes to the Site

Hey faithful Living Fly on a Dime readers,

I’m departing from the regular posts about budget living to let you know of some recent changes to Living Fly on a Dime. I was recently contacted by another website with a similar name and they asked that I change my name, as I’m infringing on their trademark. After consulting with an attorney, I decided to change my blog name to…

Looking Fly on a Dime

So the name’s still similar but different enough from the other trademarked blog. When I started this blog, it was just for fun and I never thought I’d have to deal with any serious legal issues, but blogging is big business.

So what does this mean for you, my fabulous readers? Not much, just that you’ll notice slight changes over the next few weeks. The site will be redirected to the new URL, the banner and logo will be changing. It’ll be a painful process for you guys. The content will still be the same, but with this change means a new Facebook fan page and YouTube channel.

I’ll be shutting down the old Facebook page {the one you see in the sidebar at the right}, so please “like” the new Looking Fly on a Dime fan page {I’ll be doing a Facebook giveaway in the next few weeks} and subscribe to the Looking Fly on a Dime YouTube channel.

I truly appreciate every single one of my readers so your support means a lot. So…please subscribe to the YouTube channel, like the Facebook page and send some positive energy and prayers my way.

This past week has been extremely stressful, but I’m choosing to remain positive…and I’m trademarking my new name!

xoxo,
Patrice

ah man, that sucks. i didn’t know there was another site out there with a similar name, but you’re doing the right (and respectful) thing by changing your name. I wish I would’ve gotten my old blog name trademarked and the other person would’ve been a lot more respectful towards me and changed her blog name, but its all good. again, you’re doing the right thing.

Thanks Niki. Yeah, I had no idea they existed…and I guess they just realized I existed. It’s a pain in the butt to change everything over, but yes, it’s the right thing to do! And the name Looking Fly on a Dime is starting to stick on me 🙂

I lurk mostly. I think that your site incorporates more than just looks and in that instance maybe you should think about a COMPLETE change instead of one word as your budgetista advice covers not only fashion but most other aspects of life as well. Just my 2 cents, i’ll be looking and following as well.

I was thinking that as well, but doing a complete name change would be pretty damaging to
the brand recognition that I’ve built up so far. Changing Living to Looking is a slight change and not too confusing for most people. Though it’s now “Looking” I still plan to incorporate fashion, beauty and lifestyle tips as well.

Sorry to hear about the change! Crazy how life presents unforeseen, annoying challenges. I have a feeling that this is going to be a blessing in disguise. When one door closes…. Anyway, I will be making sure I stay tuned in to Looking Fly on A Dime.
