Beauty on a Dime – Sephora’s Chic Prints

Last week I received something pretty awesome in the mail: Sephora Chic Prints for Nails. I ordered them on Tuesday and by Thursday they were in my hands.

If you’re not familiar with Chic Prints, they’re Sephora’s new nail decals that come in funky prints and patterns. You simply peel them off and apply over your nails. They’re the frugal gal’s version of Minx. And Minx actually has a hand in creating Chic Prints.

At $15 per pack, you get 16 press-ons of varying sizes. And they come in eight different patterns (checkers, tiger, skulls, etc), so it was a no brainer for me to try them.

Though I loved the initial outcome, I had one major gripe…

Maybe I missed it on the website, but I had no idea the Chic Prints only last 1-2 days

{what?}

After reading that, I was nervous about putting my hands in water. Would they just peel off? Well, they didn’t peel in water, but the next morning I noticed they were getting a little ragged at the tips.

{look closely at the appliques starting to separate from the tips of my nails}

They looked OK from afar, but I was secretly hoping no one would admire my nails and ask to see them up close.

{peeling away}

I took them off after less than two days. The package says “rub to warm. Slowly peel from one side” in order to remove. I didn’t even have to “warm” them, they came off easily.

I guess these are just good for one night. Apply right before a hot date or a night out with the girls and that’s it. But don’t expect them to last an entire weekend.

Pros of Chic Prints:
-only $15
-fast, easy application
-variety of patterns

Cons of Chic Prints:
-they only last a day…or two.
-price: $15 isn’t much but it kinda is for something that only lasts a day

Would you try Chic Prints? Although they’re only $15 per application, is it really worth it since they only last a day?

    Definitely not worth it to me. I considered them and after reading they only last 1-2 days I was convinced that I would not be trying them.

    They last alot longer and adhere better when you warm them with a blow dryer and stretch them ever so slightly to fit the contours of your nail. Trim them then file the tips so it looks like just a very small amount of tip wear (like you would get from regular polish. This method prevents the “stickers on your fingers” look… I’ve had mine on for four days and counting.
