I tend to get the same question from my readers, “Patrice, I want to go thrifting with you!” Well, it’s not really a question, but more of a request. I’ve bumped in to a few of you while out thrifting, but now it’s time to make an official group endeavor.
Adventures in Thrifting is a tour of New York’s best thrift stores. I gather a group of 3-5 people {it’s best to keep the group small} and introduce you to some of my favorite shops. We don’t only shop for secondhand finds, but I also offer up my tips and tricks to get the best bargains. Just think of me as your Thrifty Godmother! Since I’m based in New York, these outings are limited to NYC but if I get requests for other cities, who knows!
Each “Adventure” will have a special theme, such as Goodwill Crawl, How to Navigate a Warehouse Sale, Thrifting for Newbies, Put an Outfit Together for less than $20, etc.
During the first “Adventures in Thrifting,” the theme was: The Big Three. We hit up three major thrift shops in NYC: Goodwill, Salvation Army and Housing Works. Check out recaps of the “Adventure” here and here.
I’m scheduling more group trips for the summer or if you need a one-on-one tour {great if you’re visiting NYC and need a shopping guide}, contact me for rates.
