5 Year Blog Anniversary: Looking Back & What’s Ahead

5 Year Blogiversary-looking-fly-on-a-dime

5 years. Yes. Five. Whole. Years. I can’t believe Looking Fly on a Dime® celebrates its fifth blogiversary today. I started the site after being laid off from my job at a fashion magazine and I had no idea this little website would lead to repeat appearances on the Today Show, Nate Berkus Show and a correspondent gig for a local NYC station.
It’s been a great five years and I’m excited for what’s to come. Besides my thrift shopping ebook that’s being released next week, you’ll see some new and revamped “old” features coming to the site.

Thriftspiration
I’m a hardcore thrifter and my Thrifty Threads 365 challenge is still going strong, but I also like highlighting other thrift lovers. And that’s why I’m resurrecting the Thriftspiration feature. Once again, I’ll turn the spotlight on thrift shoppers around the country. We’ll get the dish on their most affordable finds, the best places to shop in their city and much more. If you’re interested in showing off your thrift style, just drop me a line via the contact page.
Beauty
I’m so not a beauty girl. I mean, I can barely match my foundation, but I do love beauty advice that’s easy to understand and doesn’t require a lot of steps or cash. From testing out affordable nail polish that promises to dry in minutes to natural hair products that don’t cost a ton, you’ll see more beauty news here.
Lifestyle
Looking Fly on a Dime® isn’t just about what you wear, but it’s a lifestyle. For that reason I’m upping the lifestyle content, which will include home, travel and fitness. One feature you’ll start seeing again is Fab, Fit and Frugal where I’ll showcase easy ways to stay healthy and on a strict budget. I’ll also be doing more traveling in the next year, so I’ll pass along my budget travel tips.
Styling
The last part of my ebook {Looking Fly on a Dime: How to Find Fabulous Fashion at Any Thrift Shop & Make the Cheap Look Chic} is dedicated to how to style your clothes. A common problem I find is that women buy clothes, get them home and then have no idea how to wear them! Besides showing you how I rock my thrift store clothes, there will also be more posts solely devoted to styling, similar to this six ways to wear a maxi dress piece.
When you comment or email me with suggestions, I listen and take note, which is why I’m adding new features to the site. I’ll always be your destination for affordable fashion and thrift shopping tips, but we’re going to share even more content for the woman who understands “your style {and lifestyle!} is never determined by your wallet.”
I’m looking forward to another year of Looking Fly on a Dime® and of course I have to thank you all for reading, retweeting links, watching my TV appearances and your words of encouragement. I probably don’t say it enough, but thank you for everything.
Cheers to the future!
