5 Minute DIY: Convert Broken Jewelry Into a Necklace Holder

I absolutely hate throwing anything away. Seriously, before I toss something in the trash, my first question is, “can I use this for something else?”

That thinking led me to upcycle my broken jewelry and create a storage solution for my collection of necklaces. Check out how I reused broken brooches, necklaces and rings as a way to hang necklaces. It’s the easiest DIY project ever.

Remember when I raided my grandmother’s vintage closet? Some of the pieces included broken costume jewelry. These baubles are the centerpiece of the DIY. The addition of Krazy Glue and push pins, both can be found at the dollar store, gave the basic pins a makeover.

After letting the glue dry on the head of the pin for a few minutes, the product was complete. Really, it’s that simple. Jewelry + glue + pins + 5 minutes = Done!

I decided to hang some necklaces on the bejeweled push pins. Before then my necklaces were tangled in a pile on a velvet tray. This accessory storage solution is much more efficient and cheaper than the store bought options.

This same technique can be used on other projects. Just swap out the push pins for magnets and you’ve got a chic way to store items to the front of your fridge or any magnetic surface.

Have you ever used old jewelry in a new way? What’s your affordable storage solution for accessories?
